Nightshift takes over Victoria Park with a fast, loud, after-dark celebration of cycling and running. On Thursday, 22nd January, hundreds of athletes, on the busiest night in Adelaide for the Tour, and the kind of atmosphere you only get under lights. Whether you’re pinning on a number or just hanging out in the chaos, Nightshift is built for people to celebrate the greatest week in Australian cycling.

Our 5000 brings fast, no-nonsense distance running to Victoria Park. A tight circuit under lights, stacked fields, and the kind of atmosphere you only get when every step is on show. It’s flat, it’s loud, and it’s built for athletes who want to race hard with hundreds watching on. Pick your category, chase the clock, and let the night do the rest.

Sign on: From 4:30 PM, athletes are required for marshalling 10 minutes prior to race.
Race will be a handicap format. Women will have a 2 minute headstart.

Are there qualification standards?

Yes. The Women’s Nightshift 5000 has a 5000m personal best of 20 minutes. The Men’s Nightshift 5000 has a 5000m personal best of 18 minutes. These cutoffs ensure safe field density and a fast, competitive race.

What is a handicap?

The Nightshift 5000 uses a simple head-start format. Women start two minutes ahead of the Men. This reduces congestion, spreads the field, and gives the event a thrilling chase dynamic while keeping racing fair and predictable.
